Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Mariete (“we”, “our”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on mariete.ai and related sub-sites. Read it alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes more broadly how we handle personal information.
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. We use cookies sparingly and only after you tell us we may. The first time you visit mariete.ai you will see a banner asking whether to accept or decline. Until you accept, no analytics cookies are set on your device.
What we use, and what it does
We currently use one cookie family on the marketing site, plus a small piece of local-storage to remember your consent choice itself.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4)
When you accept, Google Analytics 4 sets two cookies:
_ga— a randomly generated client identifier that lets us count unique visitors and recognise returning ones. Lifetime: 2 years._ga_KFBNW8B27E— a session identifier and engagement metrics for our specific Analytics property. Lifetime: 2 years.
We use Google Consent Mode v2 in default-denied state. Until you click Accept, Google receives only an aggregated, cookieless ping (region, device, page). No client identifier, no _ga cookie. After you accept, the cookies above are set and full analytics begins.
Consent record (local storage, not a cookie)
We store the choice you make in the banner under the key mariete-consent in your browser’s local storage. Possible values: granted or denied. We use this so the banner does not reappear on every page and so the correct consent state is applied to GA4 on your next visit.
Theme preference (local storage, not a cookie)
We also store your theme preference (system, light or dark) under mariete-theme in local storage so the site can render in your chosen mode without a flash. This is purely functional; no analytics value.
What we do not use
The marketing site does not use:
- Advertising or remarketing cookies (no Google Ads, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, etc.).
- Cross-site tracking pixels or session replay tools.
- Affiliate or attribution cookies set by third parties.
- Personalised content or A/B testing identifiers.
If we ever introduce additional cookie technologies we will update this policy and re-prompt for consent first.
How to change or revoke your choice
You can change your choice at any time:
- Quickest: open your browser’s developer tools and run
localStorage.removeItem('mariete-consent'), then reload. The banner will reappear and you can pick again. - Or: clear cookies and site data for
mariete.aifrom your browser settings. This removes both the consent record and any GA cookies. - Browser-level: most browsers let you block all cookies, or block third-party cookies, in their privacy settings. This will prevent GA cookies from being set even if you click Accept.
You can also opt out of Google Analytics across the entire web by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, particularly if we introduce new technologies or our use of analytics changes. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will trigger a fresh consent prompt on your next visit.
